In July, 2002: Thanks to special guest speaker
Toi Beveridge Wright, who spoke on the subject of Microsoft Office and COM,
rounding out the day's presentations on our theme of Microsoft's Component
Object Model (COM). Toi is President of the
Metroplex Access
Developers, an organization with a significant overlap in
membership with our SIG.
In August, 2002: SIG
Leader Larry Linson discussed Access 2002: XML and Other
Mysteries, following the theme for the day, XML (Extensible
Markup Language). Access 2002 is more XML-enabled than
any previous version, but likely less so than future versions.
XML is the new lingua franca of the Internet, with some support in all
the major platforms, Microsoft's .NET and others, and more being
developed each day.
In September, 2002: In
accord with the Automation theme for the day, special guest speaker Tuc Goodwin,
Leader of the Beginning VB SIG, demonstrated
automating Microsoft Excel to generate reports. Tuc,
just this year, began to use Access extensively, along with Visual
Basic. He was pleased at the simplicty of automating Excel functionality
and he explained how you can use it, too.
